Greenway USA has completed our latest project for Columbia University. The renovation of Casa Latina one of Columbia’s Special Interest Communities (SIC).
The Special Interest Communities (SIC) program offers distinctive residential experiences to those interested in living among students with common identities or interests. Special Interest Communities create opportunities to impact the larger Columbia community through the implementation of educational programs, events, and workshops in addition to fostering a connection to faculty, staff, and alumni.
Casa Latina is specifically designed as a safe and accessible space for Latinx communities and allies. Casa Latina's programming is centered on the universal education and celebration of Latinx culture with an awareness for social justice.
The Scope of Work for this project included total gut and refurbish of 7 bathrooms, refinished wood flooring throughout the building, Wall repairs and painting on all four floors, new LVT flooring in the Laundry and Meeting rooms, installation of new cabinets and flooring for the kitchen. In addition Greenway USA created a new concrete patio area with new drainage system for the property’s backyard.
This project required an 8 week turn-around and concluded right on time for the new school year. The returning residents of Casa Latina are in for a wonderful surprise when they see their renovated home away from home!
